This is an sampling of some of Lovie Riddles notes. This is from the Lewiston Daily Sun Saturday morning Sept 10th 1988.
Alabama man claims that he has killed as many as 30 people.
Riddle stated to Detective Peter Herring that he had killed as many as 30 people over the past 13 years.On Aug 24th he recounted to Herring details of numerous homicides and as many as 35 kidnappings in several states and Canada. On Sept 9th he told reporters the material was for a novel he planned to write.
Described as a transient who worked as a cook at inns in Boothbay Harbor and Jackson, NH.
An affidavit filed with the Bridgton District Court complaint states Riddle offered a ride to a woman walking along rt 302 in Fryeburg Aug 13th ('88)and then pulled off on a dirt road and forced her to commit oral sex.
Riddle told Herring in a 2 and a half hr interview of "participating
in and being present at numerous homicides" as a mmber of the Outlaws motorcycle gang.
The document said Riddle did not want his attorney present during the interview because he wanted to get help and not get out of jail."If it takes 50 or 100 years, get me off the street. Keep me in there till I die, if it will help.."
Herring read from the notebooks. In part,"In the last 13 years I've allowed this force at least 30 times. The same force that drove me to kill in '83 is driving me again"
"The defendant told of kidnapping children in the US and Canada" the affidavit said. " He indicated that he participated (in more than)35 kidnappings." Among the events described, the document said.
* kidnapping a 4 yr old from Tenn. and delivering him to Quebec.
*Kidnapping a girl named Nicolo aged 8 or 9 from Canada in '86 and transporting her to Texas where he believes she was killed.
*Killing of a male, mutilating his body and dumping it along interstate 10 in Beaumont.
*Shooting a female to death and throwing her young child into a river.
*Being present when a 17 yr old girl was beaten to death with a hammer in Tenn.
*Killing a female in Cape Cod by beating her with a soda bottle and leaving her body under an overpass.
* Beating a female in CT near Hartford.
* Killing two game wardens in 79 and burying their bodies in a field.

Assistant District Attorney Patricia Mador also outlined in the affidavit " a long record of violent crimes" Including convictions for grand larceny, assault with intent to ravish and fraud. She said he had over a period of time been arrested on charges of murder, obtaining drugs by fraud,jumping bail,failing to appear in court in response to a traffic charge, and numerous violations of parole as a result of the convictions. The defendant has a record in Florida,Alabama,Iowa and Illinois. He has also spent 2 years time for possession of a firearm by a felon." The murder charge was dropped. details were unavailable. History also included 2 convictions for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Riddle was charged in Waldo County District Court in Belfast on June 5, 1988 with rape. the charge was later dismissed because of contradictions in the womans testimony.
Riddle staed that he worked at the Eagle Mt house in Jackson NH for 3 yrs.

so, in spite of suggestions to be alert to ominous warnings, the need to take extraordinary precautions in the course of daily living, and to be ever-vigilant and fearful, i choose to exercise reasonable caution and live with enough freedom to allow happiness, if not a measure of joy.

bad things happen. i am very well aware of that fact. i try to strike a balance between reality and the potential for catastrophe.

I am in full agreement Snowy--I make informed choices about where I go, what I do, and with whom I go, in all parts of my life. Living under a rock is not for me.

I've looked at the Louise Chaput case and noticed a statement by her friend, Nathalie Petrowski, quoted in the 11-29-2002 issue of the Union Leader written by Kathryn Marchocki.

"Chaput’s fully-clothed body was found near the start of the popular Glen Boulder Trail, just south of the Appalachian Mountain Club’s Pinkham Notch lodge after a 2½-day search.

Her throat had been slashed, Petrowski said.

“It’s terrible. It’s so brutal, so violent,” Petrowski said."

The official cause of death is "stabbing."

She was found fully clothed and she was not sexually assaulted.

Her body was found about 200 yards from the Glen Boulder Trailhead and close to Rte 16.

Here are my thoughts:

If her body had been discovered 15-20 years earlier in the Connecticut River Valley near Claremont, NH, I don't think there's any question that Louise Chaput would be listed as a presumed victim of the Connecticut River Valley River Killer because he slashed the victims's throats and stabbed them multiple times in the lower abdomen. He did not sexually assault his victims.

Michael Nicholaou is the primary suspect in those murders and he committed suicide on 12/31/2005, after killing his third wife and stepdaughter. When he was married to his second wife, Michelle, they lived for a time in Holyoke, MA, during the 1980s when the Connecticut River Valley Killer was active. Her parents reported her missing on December 20, 1988, when they stopped by her house and no one was home. They hired Lynn-Marie Carty, a PI, to find Michelle and her two children. Carty traced Nicholaou and the kids to Charlottsville, VA. He claimed Michelle ran off with a drug dealer. Although she is officially listed as a missing person, I believe LE considers her disappearance to be an unsolved homicide.

As I've stated before, even though I haven't found any solid evidence that Michael Nicholaou returned to New England after he left Holyoke, MA in December, 1988, I suspect he returned to the area to dismember, freeze, and later dispose of Michele's remains so that LE would not be able to identify them because they would mistakenly assume they belonged to someone killed in May, 1989, rather than December, 1988, and never suspect they were Michelle's remains.

On June 24, 1989, dismembered human remains consisting of two arms and two legs were discovered in Warwick, MA, approximately 45 miles from Holyoke. I believe a DNA test will confirm my suspicion that Michele Nicholaou is the source of those remains.

After giving the matter more thought, I now believe the reason he killed and dismembered Webb's body and disposed of her legless torso and head next to Route 3 near Franconia was to misdirect LE attention away from Holyoke and toward eastern MA and NH and southern ME for a dismemberment killer. But for DNA evidence, his ruse would have worked.

Now, it looks like he also may be responsible for Louise Chaput's murder 16 years later because she was killed the same way that the other Connecticut River Valley victims were killed and her body was disposed of in the same manner, with the exception of Linda Moore who was murdered in her own home in Saxton's River, VT on April 15, 1986. Nevertheless, the motive in Moore's case seems similar to the motive in Chaput's case because both murders appear to be declarations by the killer that no one is safe from his predations. He can kill you inside your home in a small town surrounded by neighbors you trust and he can kill you when you think you're safe hiking in the wilderness by yourself.

In conclusion, I can't prove Michael Nicholaou killed Pamela Webb or Louise Chaput, but I believe the possibility that he did is significant enough to merit serious consideration and effort by LE to prove or disprove it.

4. The area around the Sanitorium, which is 7.3 miles from the 116 on Long Pond Road also looks promising as does the area where Long Pond Road runs alongside Jeffers Brook. This area is on Long Pond Road between Whitcherville Pond and Sanitorium Road.
I recommend these areas because they are remote but are easily and quickly reached from the area around the Weathered Barn in a few minutes. There's a way out that allows the driver to return to the area around the Weathered Barn without doubling back. Long Pond Road turns into Sanitorium Road which takes you to Glencliffe. A right onto Mt. Moosilaukee Hwy at Glencliffe takes you to East Haverhill. Take a right on Lime Kiln Road, which also has some promising areas to search, and just before you reach Haverhill Center, take a right on Benton Rd and you're back in Benton.

I believe the Saturn's location is connected somehow to something or someone in Benton, NH.

After reviewing the murder of 22-year-old Shari Lynn Roth while she was hiking near Sawyer Pond in the White Mountains, I have concluded that she was not killed by the same person who killed Louise Chaput.

Roth was murdered on or about August 21, 1977. The cause of death in her case was strangulation. She also was sexually assaulted and her body was not dumped next to a road.

Mason, Ms Chaput's cause of death was officially listed as stabbing. It is my understanding that she was killed by the knife wound to her throat. I have never heard it said in any official report or even rumor that she did not have other wounds, and I certainly have not heard that she was not sexually assaulted. Furthermore, there was a significant period of time between when she went missing and when her body was found. The area had been searched. People in the area believe that she was abducted, and given the missing time, that is not an unreasonable assumption.

A fact is something that can be objectively proven. If something can't be objectively proven, it is not a fact - please don't state it as such. And if you don't know whether it's a fact or not, check it AND say "I don't know if this is a fact."

Wow......... Just catching up. Alot of research done on serial killers........... so scary and so sad........... gave me goosebumps just reading it. wonder how these sickos get the ideas... it just not normal.... and how smart they are is even scarier
