Is there research why they always do it the same way?

Bundy did both strangulation and bludgeon - and the don't even want to mention the one I believe from Ellensburg - I had to stop reading the book for about a week after that one.......... gross

After reading the posts on the other forum - there is some speculation perhaps - this could have happened. I hope not for sure. One they mention with fixing a tire on the side of the road looks like could possibly see a link. That is why I asked? Do they usually only have one MO? I hate to think that it happened but it can't be ruled out -as we don't have enough facts to rule it out. Check it out - Mason and EB have quite alot of info and research and within a 40 mile distance. I am not fascinated by serial killers ? not sure why that would be a question? We have to look at all options here.

I think the link between to murders - 16 years apart - shows how calculated they wait for the perfect prey...... damn right scary. One that was left on the side of the road didnt' seem to fit the same one.
That is why I asked? hope that clarifies..

i didn't realise they could wait that long or not have other murders linked to them....... if you don't find remains..... one he kept in a freezer for years - police were looking for bones not a fresh body that was only half a body - she was sawed in half!!! they were looking for bones - she was preserved - fresh from the freezer.

while possibilities exist for abduction by a serial killer, Maura's thread seems to be a gathering place for the morbidly curious with regard to many "killings" followed across the country.

an attempt to focus on all serial killers/killings across the country would seem too broad.

narrowing down the specifics as they pertain to Maura's disappearance are at least geographically limited by Mason's/Fred's ruling in/ruling out possibilities from a local list. his professional view seems quite helpful.

really...i have no need to know the details of each and every abduction/killing across the country, thank you.

Agreed. I never mentioned looking elsewhere. I mentioned Bundy as an example - since he dead as a door knob.- My question is why the one murder was not linked with the others - connecticut murderer? just because the victime was left on the side of the road? different MO? do they often have a differnt MO? I don't know.

However - it has been discussed a serial killer is a low probablity. After reading the info on the conn river murder - he did find people to kill at a moments notice....... very interesting and that he did not act alone - at least 2 to 3 others with him........ makes you wonder if that happened to Maura - it hasn't been brought up that maybe a group grabbed her..... conn river murder was NOT just one person.

Another question would be - maybe he stopped but the others kept killing ? Since they were so close to Maura's car - and simialr situation? Maybe?

Also - the different styles - how do you link murders to one group? If it is cars ran off the road or a flat tire. I think this is the forum to discuss it since that is very similar to Mauras.

I still question if they kill differently - on average. Bundy didn't always do it the same way but preyed on a certain look.

sorry snowy, but to understand serial killers - you do need to compare because we don't know alot about them.

Someone posted right now their are 30 serial killers walking around the country - one of them could have taken Maura..........Who knows where they are? Have to look at all options.

Since you spoke to the chief. Can you eleborate on the Red Truck ? Does RO still live in town? Since it is such a small town maybe you know her. If so, would she maybe be willing to come on and post? I understand she did on the first forum. With us newbies it would be great to hear from her directly

I posted two links last weeks regarding the cold case unit we have talked about for someime.

Does anyone know when the results of the hearing will be announced?

I hope this passes - the boston newspaper says the task force would be for only two years then disolve.

I hope this goes through and we get answers and closure for the family.

I remember that Sharon (Maura’s fiance’s mother), from the very beginning was able to identify the phone because the phone had just recently been given as gift to Maura by her fiance.

The truth is good, Philip, and the information presented on Maura’s forum was posted with only that in mind. You have told those here on Topix that you were able to download the old forum and yet there are glaring errors in what you say. Regarding the cell phone - RED LIGHT - Smoking a cigerette.

I have been researching her model - what I found is the light it is green not red.

More to come - I have some calls into some pawn shops that might have the older model phone.

I have also sent an email to contact us at Samsung. That would be the most reliable source

I should mention that these are not lights in the traditional sense. They are actually LED’s.

I don't know if this particular model is like this but: many phones have/had LED's that have more than one color available to display. Green if forward polarized, red if reverse polarized and yellow if AC. What they would usually do is use green to indicate full charge and red to indicate low battery or charge needed. They actually have a lot more capability than just that but that was pretty common in that timeframe. So even though when you saw the phone the LED was green. A low battery or other state could cause the LED to turn red.

Again, I don’t know if this phone was like that but it wasn’t a traditional light for certain. It was an LED and certain LED’s have that capability.

What I have found the charger DOES have a red light when it is charging. This at right at the cig adapter - so would be at opposite end of the phone cord - by the dash board.
