but, in real time, and with no strings attached...there are a few i can relate to, as well...and so appreciate their views as human beings and on the dilemma of Maura's missing. i'll focus there.

ABANDONED VEHICLES Motor vehicles with evidence of non-use, vehicles abandoned in parking lots, streets, or other University property for fourteen (14) days or more may be towed away and subject to disposal of. Any vehicle found without a valid license plate will be considered an abandoned vehicle and may be removed from University property by direction of the Chief of the University Police Department or his/her designee. The University will use reasonable and prudent judgment in an attempt to locate the owners of unused or abandoned motor vehicles. Expenses for the towing and disposal will be the responsibility of the registered owner of the vehicle. The owner of the vehicle so removed and towed away under the provisions of this section shall also be subject to the penalties provided in Chapter 90, Section 22B, of the Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Laws. The owner will be responsible for the care or protection of or damage to, any such motor vehicle or its contents. Maura's car would have appeared abandoned to UMASS authorities for a number of reasons including a possible flat tire. Wonder how much the expenses would have been for towing and disposal? Mason, the Landry affidavit states Smith arrived at 7:27. Pretty interesting.

Peri -- I'm not so sure the red truck driver is or should be on the suspect list. Apparently LE stopped looking for the vehicle, stopped stopping red pickups, and I never heard (not like I have any reason "to have heard" haha) about a continuing search for the red pickup driver. From that and from all the stuff posted, I'd guess LE figured out who it was or the driver came in and ID'd self to LE. Just today's opinion, but I think the red truck is a red herring! It was TOO obvious, TOO visible, RIGHT ABOUT THERE too much. This will be embarrassing when they arrest that driver later this morning, or something --- joking. But it's NO JOKE that anyone with any responsibility for harming Maura, or making her to feel worthless (driving her to harm herSELF), should be held accountable in the appropriate manner.

It was all at Kathleen's house until April. So the Cal. Rec. reported the Murrays had hired someone (sorry name escapes me) in Feb. Det.Col. states he joined in March. This makes no sense to me at all wouldn't that be one of the first things you went through all the car stuff her school stuff computer! Beagle wrote: <quoted text>Maybe they didn't have access to it? I honestly didn't think there was still a stigma attached to psych or mental disorders. I hear people say, "Gotta leave early to go to the shrink". At dinner parties I've heard people comparing which SSRI they each were taking and the pros and cons of each! The history of how people with psychological or mental problems were treated is a horror. There were atrocities committed for centuries. I see I must insulate myself and just interact with those who have compassion for that kind of illness, and understand that many mental issues are brain chemical issues, not anyone's fault, just like diabetes or hypothyroidism, etc. I'll have to go back and reread the post --- if it was you, Snowy, I know that you, yourself, have compassion for people (and pets!) who can't advocate for themselves!
In terms of Maura, it sure sounded like she was having psych issues in the time before she disappeared. And, since we've already listed all the ways she refused help, I wouldn't be surprised if she tried to "tough out" an emotional problem she was going through and never sought medical help. JMHO.

Peri Cheif Williams did state during the interview that Sgt. Smith did indeed travel Bradley Hill looking for Maura. I believe Atwood also travelled BH as well as French Pond. peripeteia wrote: Red Truck Driver add to list of suspects Seen 10 minutes before heading towards accident scene before police arrived at scene of weatherbarn accident at 1946, although time seems to be in dispute, quoting here from Accident Report and Grafton County Sherrif log. Irrespective of time, the RTD preceeded the police by 10 minutes and RTD, passed or was near the weatherbarn 10 minutes before police arrived. The report of the other siting of the RTD that night comes from the dog walker, car parked on BRadley Hill Road. Time unknown? Very compelling evidence, that places RTD at the scene of the accident at the time Maura disappeared. There are any number of means and ways that RTD could have picked Maura up, with or without her permission. No there is no smoking gun to say that Maura was dragged from the scene, but there is compelling testimony that places an unknown suspicious person driving a red truck at the scene of the accident at the critical time. The SBD reports seeing other vehicles pass Did he travel down or up Bradley Hill Road in his travels Did any of the emergency responders or police, Monaghan approach the accident scene via Bradley Hill Road? What time was the truck seen parked on Bradley Hill Road? Was the RTD parked on Saint Peter's Road, on the 112 near Bradley Hill? What of the foot tracks behind JM's property, where did they lead? To Bradley Hill Road area or the Saint Peter's Road area.

Snowy White wrote: <quoted text> NO. again, you misinterpret. physically/geographically, entrance and exit to our town is limited by north and south access. the police do not need to consider access or egress by east and west. this enhances their effectiveness in planning for and arresting violators of the law. in attempting to understand LE coverage in northern NH, it is my impression that small police forces represent towns in limited jurisdictions...and call upon each other to converge in crises. tiny franconia was shaken by violence on 5/11, but was limited to the known dynamics of the relationships between parties. is an otherwise serene, quiet, rural setting, Maura's disappearance, unresolved and of unknown origin, evokes more concern. an attempt is being made to place blame on poor LE procedures, and/or an existing criminal element. neither or both may be the source or contributory to Maura's disappearance. her life prior to her disappearance certainly factors into the equation. perhaps someone can enlighten us about LE practices and jurisdictions in this area of NH. in doing so, some may find more comfort and reassurance. No no, I simply meant that's the same theory behind gated communities.

(Speculation, not fact) What if Maura was planning to go to the Salamone's condo with a new male friend and she told HIM the name of the place and he made the reservation, using his credit card to hold the unit? He gave her a copy of his notes with the confirmation number, the telephone number, etc. Then SHE called to cancel after he broke up with her (a break-up call Thursday night? And then she waited several days to see if he'd change his mind). And THEN she'd crumple the paper into a ball and throw it out. OR, if she was staying mostly at his place, they might've made the reservation together on his computer, and, again, made 2 copies of the confirmation, one for each of them?

stigmas are alive and well, folks, when someone...or two...pipe up to question whether or not Beagle has 'taken his meds' or he's just 'a paranoid schizophrenic'. these comments occurred around the time of his presenting, in depth, his research about the 'egg harvesting' theory.
now, we can't have it both ways. the 'founding mothers' discounted his theories by virtue of a presumed diagnosis. i defended him. the text is in Topix.
i won't be a self-appointed advocate for him or anyone here...but these phrases, in context, were neither compassionate nor, possibly, even correct.
i defended him...in light of this cruelty.
you see, the implications for such phrasing are not quite the same as .... oh go take your metformin (for diabetes) or, oh, you're just a whining diabetic!
no, we haven't arrived there yet. case in point. hypocrisy.
peace.

This is interesting too, Beagle....... http://www.tauruscarclub.com/forum/lofiversio... amon Feb 16 2004, 09:25 PM QUOTE (Kermitec @ Feb 15 2004, 09:13 PM) Yeah, they really screw you over with the towing scams. Some of these places actually get a kickback from the towing companies! They do have to have a sign stating parking is for customers only. If they didn't have the sign they shouldn't have towed you. Greedy Bast@rds. Your friends suck, taking 10 bucks from you WTF? When I get together with my buddies we always chip in for stuff! One guy takes care of parking or gas so you pick up the other guys burger or whatever. ahahahhaha, you think thats corrupt, get this.......... Umass-Amherst parking services department is headed by a woman who is married to the owner of the local TOWING COMPANY, who in turn does ALL of the towing for violations on the Umass Campus (which sees about 28000 students pass through on a daily basis). So you can imagine theres some sketchy shiznit going on there, for sure. -Damon

Keep thinking about the computer. It would have all the emails - who did she email ? They also could check PC's that she accessed on campus - library - lab etc. The IT dept could trace that by her logon

so, ladies and gentlemen...being not one to mince words.... this effort demands considerable stamina...and in the big picture, is an overload when added to fulfilling one's own life obligations, especially when true collaboration seem futile, for all the reasons i've mentioned over time.
good wishes to all...and for combining your efforts to conclude in a most positive way.

I don't know how many days winter break is at Amherst - could it have been towed then. The roads are icy and some damage happened to the car

I also agree with Fred/Mason post that family deserves privacy. I do hope they shared every little detail with LE as well. Some things I question because the public could hold the answer. Where she worked for one. I keep thinking of a 'stalker' or male friend who would just not take no for an answer. Her friend said she got flirty when she drank - this is stated by her friend - not me. What if - that guy took it too far. He was not taking no for an answer. Maybe she didn't even tell her friend ? Maybe - someone at the gallery saw this happen?????? could be one of the many missing links
