My post was not in reference to the information you posted above. I was not even on the forum at the time. Mine was a general statement - since this has been brought up for many months. sorry I didn't clarify.

Some of your statements - regarding facts - have laws that protect them. You mentioned employement inforation is public record. It certaintly is NOT. There are laws that protect individuals. If an employer gives out more information - other than employed - or if woudl be hired again. Any other inforamtion - address - if employee is onsite - is something an employee can take legal action.

case in point. We don't know where Maura worked do we?
I would hope that you clearly know the laws prior to making legal statements.

It can be a very dangerous road to travel - if you don't know the legal ramifications! I work in legal contracts and rfp's all day - I would caution you. I do think Mason knows where he draws the line in the sand on this one. It is a battle that I would not take on IMO

Excuse me, Dawn, but colleges do list their faculty. This information is, in fact, public information. That is the ONLY such information which I have requested or about which I have inquired.
Making a threat of physical violence to another person on a public forum is ILLEGAL.

Surely you are not saying that it is legal and acceptable to make threats of physical violence to a poster on a public forum? What I am saying is that I am quite capable of taking proof of such threats to appropriate law enforcement.

I am not an attorney- so I won't even begin to offer legal advice. Not knowing the statue of internet laws in VT - I could/would not make even begin to make a legal conclusion. I have been on the side of being libel - remember - I did what any repsonsible person would do - I checked with an attorney and found out I was in BIG BIG trouble. I was ready to be sued.

certain comments can be viewed as a figure of speech - depending on the perception - which is in the eye of the beholder. I, myself, did not see violence - considering he posted this to anonomyous 'poster' moniker - not directed to name - person ( that is where the LIBEL part gets tricky because a PERSON is named). So, again not sure how monikers are viewed and figure of speech is translated in VT

All I know is.......... I wont ever make a post against a non moniker again....... attorneys are expensive! At least the good ones are VERY expensive.

I have hard copies of the specific threats of physical violence. It is hard for me to believe that law enforcement would find these posts anything other than thretaening.

Anyway, this is not the appropriate setting for this subject. I will take it where it belongs, to the proper legal authorities empowered to deal with it.

I do not knows the laws in VT Sophie Bean. Comments can be lost in translation - it could be viewed as a figure of speech or a statement. That is not up to me to make the final conculsion

You might be surprised when you find out the actual internet laws . When a moniker is used - a not personal. I can tell you here in WA it would be very difficult or impossible to move forward.

Possibly it can be passed by because noone is whom they say they are here, including........

That does not make it right or wrong - it just makes it legal or not.

I can tell you the posts to Fred - not a moniker - are libel/legal. That is the only thing I can confirm.

SB, I guess you need to learn, same as myself, you can say anything in a certain way, I have read and reread and I saw the buildup for this, and now I understand how 'politics work'!Not unlike how lobbyists work! It is all about whom is working for who? Got it? I am sure you do!
